Responsibilities And Duties

  • This is highly responsible executive secretarial work involving complex work methods serving as primary
  • secretarial support to the Presiding Judge of the 46th Judicial Circuit.
  • Work involves performance of varied and complex secretarial duties including administrative functions as
  • assigned by the presiding judge. An employee of this class performs responsible duties requiring
  • discretion and judgment in making working decisions and has a higher level of delegated secretarial
  • responsibility such as maintaining circuit court dockets, coordinating judicial assignments and transfers,
  • and assuming responsibility for administrative tasks under supervision of the presiding judge.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Applicant must be a graduate from high school. Applicant should also possess four years of experience in
  • secretarial or general clerical work. The ability to work independently and make higher level decisions is
  • a must. Education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

Participation

  • Once enrolled, participants remain in CERF until they terminate county employment for more than 30 days.

Employee Contributions

  • Non-LAGERS participants hired on or after February 25, 2002 contribute 6% of gross salary.
  • Non-LAGERS participants are also required to make a 0.7% contribution to the 401(a) plan.
  • LAGERS participants hired on or after February 25, 2002 contribute 4% of gross salary.

Vesting And Retirement

  • Members become vested after eight years of continuous creditable service during which they receive pay for at least 1,000 hours in each year.
  • A vested member is eligible for a full benefit at age 62 or an actuarially reduced benefit as early as age 55.
  • If an employee leaves county service before vesting, employee contributions are refunded or may be rolled over to another eligible retirement plan.
