Responsibilities And Duties

- Interact with the public regarding moving violations, domestic issues, crimes committed, & citizen concerns
- Investigate crimes, identify suspects, & correspond with victims
- Serve legal documents
- Participate in court hearings by providing security measures and/or oral testimony
- Prepare reports, memos, and correspondence which are both intra & interdepartmental in nature
- Refer individuals to the proper agencies & provide other types of related guidance
- Initiate inquiries concerning possible law violations of adults or juveniles
- Obtain, present, verify, & analyze factual information and other evidence
- Make arrests if probable cause is determined
- Take suspects into custody & inform suspect of their civil rights
- Seize and/or prepare property for safekeeping
- Operate County vehicles in a safe manner; in compliance with all Missouri laws & regulations
- Assist with motor vehicle accidents and/or other medical emergencies as necessary
Qualifications And Skills

- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Seven-hundred (700) hours of basic certification and twenty-four (24) hours of continuing training annually
- Twenty-one (21) years of age
- Maintain Missouri P.O.S.T Police officer certification and adhere to P.O.S.T training requirements
