- Perform skilled, complicated, and confidential law enforcement work to protect life and property; enforce
- Federal, State, and local laws; and detect and apprehend violators. Work is accomplished under the
- direction of a supervisor, within policy and procedures of Taney County Sheriff's Office, but judgment
- and initiative are frequently exercised.
Responsibilities And Duties

- Guard prisoners/inmates assuming responsibility for all needs of prisoners/inmates during detention or
- transportation. Function as a patrol deputy interfacing directly with the public on moving violations,
- domestic issues, crimes committed, and various other citizen concerns. May investigate crimes, interface
- with victims, serve legal documents, participate in court hearings by providing security measures or oral
- testimony.
- Prepare reports, memos, and correspondence which are both intra and interdepartmental in nature; refer
- individuals to the proper agencies and provides other types of related guidance.
- Initiate inquires concerning possible law violations of adults or juveniles; obtain, present, verify, and
- analyze factual information and other evidence. Make arrests by determining if there is probable cause.
- Identify suspects; takes suspect into custody and inform suspect of his/her civil rights. Seize and/or
- prepare property for safekeeping.
- Operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner and in compliance with all Missouri laws and regulations.
- Perform traffic enforcement and assist with motor vehicle accidents and other medical emergencies as
- necessary.
Qualifications And Skills

- High School Diploma or GED
- Seven-hundred (700) hours of basic certification and forty-eight (48) hours of continuing training
- Power Phone and Dual-State Certified.
- Twenty-one (21) years of age
- Maintain Missouri P.O.S.T Police officer certification and adhere to P.O.S.T training requirements.
