  • Federal, State, and local laws; and detect and apprehend violators. Work is accomplished under the
  • direction of a supervisor, within policy and procedures of Taney County Sheriff's Office, but judgment
  • and initiative are frequently exercised.

Responsibilities And Duties

  • Guard prisoners/inmates assuming responsibility for all needs of prisoners/inmates during detention or
  • transportation. Function as a patrol deputy interfacing directly with the public on moving violations,
  • domestic issues, crimes committed, and various other citizen concerns. May investigate crimes, interface
  • with victims, serve legal documents, participate in court hearings by providing security measures or oral
  • testimony.
  • Prepare reports, memos, and correspondence which are both intra and interdepartmental in nature; refer
  • individuals to the proper agencies and provides other types of related guidance.
  • Initiate inquires concerning possible law violations of adults or juveniles; obtain, present, verify, and
  • analyze factual information and other evidence. Make arrests by determining if there is probable cause.
  • Identify suspects; takes suspect into custody and inform suspect of his/her civil rights. Seize and/or
  • prepare property for safekeeping.
  • Operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner and in compliance with all Missouri laws and regulations.
  • Perform traffic enforcement and assist with motor vehicle accidents and other medical emergencies as
  • necessary.

Qualifications And Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Seven-hundred (700) hours of basic certification and forty-eight (48) hours of continuing training
  • Power Phone and Dual-State Certified.
  • Twenty-one (21) years of age
  • Maintain Missouri P.O.S.T Police officer certification and adhere to P.O.S.T training requirements.
