OFFICIAL MINUTES
JANUARY 28, 2009, 13TH DAY OF
THE JANUARY ADJOURN TERM
The County Commission met in the Commission Hearing Room at 9:30 a.m. with
Chuck Pennel, Danny Strahan and Jim Strafuss present. The following proceedings were
had and made a matter of record.
2009 BUDGET HEARING
Auditor Rick Finley presented the Taney County 2009 Budget for January 1,
2009-December 31, 2009, as required by Missouri Statute. It was noted that the Sales
Tax Revenue was set at 3% less than was set at 2008.
The 2009 Budget as presented is included below:
Commissioner Chuck Pennel wished to thank the elected officials and department
heads for their part in the budget process and their willingness to take cuts where
necessary. Commissioner Jim Strafuss added his appreciation to the department heads
for taking the cuts and all working toward the same goal.
For the record, Chuck Pennel commented on the budget allowance set for the
assessor’s office at $150,000. Mr. Pennel stated he was not in favor of approving the
150,000 for the budget as he wanted the issue with the State Tax Commissin over, but of
course, he is in favor of keeping the assessor’s office open and understands the necessity
of it. This issue has drug on and hopefully will be resolved so the use of the $150,000 is
not necessary.
Danny Strahan commented that this was the most difficult budget he has worked
with but that the elected officials saw the need to give and take.
Jim Strafuss made a motion to approve the Taney County 2009 Budget, Danny
Strahan seconded it, and the motion passed by a vote of 3-0: Strafuss (yes), Pennel (yes)
and Strahan (yes).
