Re: Ownership transfer of Boat Docks
It has come to our attention that when Realtors or other offer property to prospective buyers, the buyers are told that there is a Boat Dock that comes with the property. For assessment purposes, the Taney County Assessor's office will assess boat docks separate from the real estate and will classify boat docks as personal property.
NEW and TRANSFERRED boat docks MUST be registered with the Assessor.
Therefore, when Boat Docks are sold with a property, transfers require a Bill of Sale. The new owner should contact the Corp of Engineers with the bill of sale, proper permit number posted on the Boat Dock, along with the Property Record Card if the dock is attached to the Assessor's office or to my Taney County Assessor's office in order to create the boat dock personal property record.
Note: Previous owner of the boat dock should alert the Assessor's office to the sale. If buyer does not properly register, the previous owner is responsible for the tax bill.
