ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER
ANIMAL CONTROL DEPARTMENT
Application Deadline: Open until position is filled
JOB SUMMARY:
Perform a variety of animal control functions in the area of field enforcement and kennel maintenance; other duties as
required to complete operational needs. (Monday through Friday with on call every 4th week)
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Maintain awareness and understanding of State Statutes and Taney County Animal Control ordinances
Maintain awareness and understanding how to properly capture and impound strays, controllable/uncontrollable
animals
Receive animal complaints from public, in compliance to ordinances
Approach, capture & transport animals while ensuring the safety & well-being of animals as well as public
Examine health of animals and determine if veterinarian needs to be contacted
Administer vaccinations as needed
Investigate and quarantine for animal bites
Testify in court if required
Feed/water animals
Wash / Sanitize food and water dishes
Maintain a Clean work environment
Must be available to be on call for after hour emergencies when needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Must be at least 21 years of age
Valid driver’s license required
Working knowledge of computer hardware, software and accessories
Knowledgeable of rules, regulations and State Statutes regarding housing and care of animals
Ability to keep accurate records and create detailed reports
SALARY: $ 17.00 per hour + Benefits STATUS: Full Time, 40 hours per week
(Mon-Fri; On-Call every 4th week)
