TANEY COUNTY
BID TAB & AWARD FORM
BID DATE; Wednesday April 24, 2019
BID FOR; County Tax Sale
BID NUMBER; 201903-428

RESPONSES RECEIVED COST / BID RESPONSE
(Company) (Price per column inch on 9 pt. type with 10.5 pt. leding.)
Branson Tri-Lakes News - Branson, Missouri
(Tri-Lakes Newspapers – Branson / Hollister, Missouri) $8.00
Springfield News Leader - Springfield, Missouri
(Gannett Missouri Publishing, Inc. – Dallas, Texas) $5.00

Wednesday April 24, 2019: After opening responses from both of the above listed newspaper
services today initial details were noted by Taney County Deputy Collector Myka Braschler, and
myself. These responses will be thoroughly reviewed by staff members of the Taney County
Collector’s Office. An agenda request has been made, and approved, to deliver a formal
recommendation for award to the Taney County Commission on Monday April 29, 2019.
Monday April 29, 2019: After completion of a thorough review Taney County Collector Mona
Cope recommended the Springfield News Leader as the low Bidder at $5.00. However, given the
fact that the low Bidder is headquartered in Springfield (Greene County), Missouri - there was an
immediate question concerning their actual current circulation within Taney County, Missouri. The
answer to that question indicated their circulation to be lower than initially estimated, and much
lower than Branson Tri-Lakes News. Another consideration was that the Taney County Tax
information would most likely be scheduled to run in the Springfield paper, if awarded to them, on
the same dates as the Greene County Tax information. This issue would most likely create
extensive confusion for Taney County Readers. After discussion regarding these issues as well
as statutory wording - the Taney County Commission made a motion vote to table the final award
decision for one week until more research could be completed.
Monday May 6, 2019: The Taney County Commission met today and after taking into
consideration all of the above issues – a lack of local business presence, less circulation, and
possible reader confusion by using the low Bidder out of Springfield – they awarded this bid to
Branson Tri-Lakes News. Despite the higher amount the Commission believes this decision is
acting in the best interest of all of the citizens of Taney County Missouri. Their motion vote to
award as such was unanimous.

Thank you.
