Procedures for
Candidates who are to be Nominated at the August 7, 2018 Primary
Election
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to individuals who wish to file a declaration of candidacy to appear as a
candidate on the August Primary Election ballot. Filing will open on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 8:00 a.m.
and will continue until Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 5:00 p.m.

FURTHER NOTICE IS GIVEN that filing for offices will take place in the office of the Honorable Donna
Neeley, Taney County Clerk, in the Taney County Court House, 132 David Street, Forsyth, Missouri.

The Honorable Donna Neeley shall establish, by random drawing, the order in which such candidates' names
shall appear on the ballot. On the first day of filing, it shall be conducted so that each candidate may draw a
number at random at the time of filing, the number shall be recorded, and the names of the candidates filing
for each office on each ballot shall be listed in ascending order of the numbers drawn. Candidates for County
offices will need the following: (1) Proof of Identity (RSMo 115.355.4); (2) a copy of the Affidavit of Tax
Payment Form 5120 filed with the Department of Revenue. This form affirms that the candidate is not
currently aware of any delinquency in the filing or payment of any state income taxes, personal property
taxes, or real property taxes on their place of residence; or is not a past or present corporate officer of any fee
office that owes any taxes to the state (this form can be obtained from the Department of Revenue website at:
http://dor.mo.gov/forms/5120.pdf) (RSMo 115.342); (3) $50.00 political party filing fee, (cash or Check
made out to Republican or Democrat Central Committee) (RSMo 115.357.2); (4) $3.00 filing fee to be paid to
the County Treasurer (RSMo 51.410); and for those individuals filing for the County Collector position, a
signed affidavit from a bonding agency affirming that the candidate is bondable if they should take
office (HCS/HB 235).

Last day to Register to VOTE for the August Primary Election is July 11, 2018.

Absentee Saturday is August 4th, 2018 and you may vote in person at the County Clerk’s office
located at 132 David Street from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

Election Judges being sought for 2018 Elections
The Honorable Donna Neeley requests that you consider serving as an Election Judge. Requirements: must
be a registered voter; must be able to speak, read, and write English; must not appear on the current ballot or
have a close relative appear on the current ballot; must not hold elective office at the time of service as a poll
worker. (Exceptions to the elective office provision include: political party committee, township office, board
or commission member of a political subdivision or special district, unless an issue or candidate relevant to
that entity is on the ballot where you are working.) The starting wage for a judge is $101.50, with an
additional $20.00 for training. We will have 3 Elections in 2018. The April Municipal Election will be April
3rd, the August Primary will be August 7th, and the November General Election will be November 6th.
