THE JANUARY ADJOURN TERM
PRELIMINARY STUDY
The County Commission met in the Commission Conference Room at 9:00 am with Ron Houseman (present),
Danny Strahan (absent), and Brandon Williams (present).
The Preliminary Study the Commission discussed and accounts payable bill. Commissioner Williams went to
discuss the bill with the Department Official that is billed.
FORMAL AGENDA
The County Commission met in the Commission Hearing Room at 9:17 am with Ron Houseman (present),
Danny Strahan (absent), and Brandon Williams (present). The following proceedings were had and made a
matter of record:
PUBLIC COMMENT
No public Comment.
CALL TO ORDER
Commissioner Houseman called the March 31, 2014 meeting to order at 9:17 am in the Commission Hearing
Room. Auditor Rick Findley led with prayer and Commissioner Williams led the Pledge of Allegiance.
COMMISSION REMARKS
There were no Commission remarks.
CTCFD (CENTRAL TANEY COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT) COMMENTS
Taney County Commission Counsel, Frank Cottey, stated that he was asked the by the Commission to give a
legal opinion on the tax bills for the C.T.C.F.D. bill to property owners that did not own the property at the
time of the tax annex issue. Mr. Cottey spoke on how the issue had started and what has happened up to the
present. He stated the County Commission is not legally able to waive taxes owed by individuals living in
recently annexed areas.
Commissioner Houseman stated the reason why the County Commission has asked Mr. Cottey to speak. He
also asked if there were any questions or comments from anyone that was in the Hearing Room.
County Clerk Donna Neeley spoke about how the tax codes were changed by the ex-County Assessor. Ms.
Neeley also said the Commission was informed of the issue during the Board of Equalization (BOE) July 30,
2010, meeting. She stated that the County Counselor, at that time, Robert Paulson instructed the BOE that it
was not the Taney County Commission’s or the Taney County Assessor’s responsibility to change the Tax
code. A discussion ensued between the Taney County Commission, Taney County Clerk and Mr. Cottey.
Jan Clark of the Taney County Times asked if the ex-County Assessor spoke with the Taney County
Commission Counsel prior to changing tax codes. Mr. Cottey answered that he was not the County
Commissions Counselor at that time.
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE
Commissioner Williams moved to approve a Transfer from the Transfer Station to Road and Bridge; a Transfer
for paper usage; Checks #338973 - #339052 with Check #339053 being held. Commissioner Houseman
seconded the motion. The motion passed by vote: Houseman (aye), Strahan (absent), and Williams (aye).
TRANSFER STATION DISCUSSION
Randy Haes and David Stottle, with the Road and Bridge Department, came before the County Commission to
discuss the Rockaway Beach Spring Clean-Up. Commissioner Houseman said the County should work with the
Municipalities on the clean up.
A discussion ensued about the floor of the Transfer Station.
UTV DISCUSSION
The Commission rescheduled the ATV and UTV discussion.
PETITION TO VACATE CERTAIN ROADS IN OLIVER TOWNSHIP
The County Commission signed the corrected paperwork on the road vacations in Oliver Township.

Houseman seconded the motion. The motion passed by roll call vote: Houseman (aye), Strahan (absent),
