THE JANUARY ADJOURN TERM
PRELIMINARY STUDY MEETING
The County Commission met in the Commission Conference Room at 8:30 am with Ron Houseman (present),
Danny Strahan (present), and Brandon Williams (absent).
Commissioner Houseman and Commissioner Strahan met to review the day’s business and concerns about the
County, as posted.
Commissioner Williams entered the meeting at 8:58 am.
FORMAL AGENDA
The County Commission met in the Commission Hearing Room at 9:06 am with Ron Houseman (present),
Danny Strahan (present), and Brandon Williams (present). The following proceedings were had and made a
matter of record:
CALL TO ORDER
Commissioner Houseman called the March 6, 2014, meeting to order at 9:06 am in the Commission Hearing
Room.
BID #201401-247 RECOMMENDATIONS
FOR METAL CULVERTS
Purchasing Agent Ron Erickson and Road & Bridge Administrator Randy Haes came before the Commission to
present a formal recommendation for Bid #201401-247 regarding Metal Culverts. The County received the
following two responses:
Metal Culverts Inc. out of Jefferson City, Missouri.
Viebrock Sales out of Sedalia, Missouri.
Mr. Haes recommends the Commission award the bid to Viebrock. Discussion ensued regarding awarding
Viebrock Sales as primary and Metal Culverts Inc as secondary.
Commissioner Strahan moved to award Bid #201401-247 metal culverts to Viebrock Sales as primary and
Metal Culverts Inc. vendor as secondary per Mr. Haes recommendation. Commissioner Williams seconded the
motion. The motion passed by vote: Houseman (aye), Strahan (aye), and Williams (aye).
BID #201401-248 RECOMMENDATIONS
FOR SIGNS
Purchasing Agent Ron Erickson and Road & Bridge Administrator Randy Haes came before the Commission to
present formal recommendation for Bid #201401-248 Signs. The County received the following 12 responses:
Mr. Haes recommends the Commission to award the bid to Newman Signs, Inc. based on best overall cost as
primary and Vulcan as secondary.
Commissioner Strahan moved to award Bid #201401-248 Signs to Newman Signs, Inc. as primary and Vulcan
as secondary. Commissioner Williams seconded the motion. The motion passed by vote: Houseman (aye),
Strahan (aye), and Williams (aye).
ROAD & BRIDGE UPDATES
Randy Haes, Harlan Collins, Devin Huff, and David Stottle came before the Commission to present the
following Road & Bridge Update:
*Vehicles – Mr. Haes presented a list of vehicles/equipment with estimated costs for three ½ ton trucks,
one ¾ ton truck, and one 1 ton truck with utility body. Discussion ensued regarding going out to bid for
these.

Discussion continued concerning the purchasing of vehicles. Mr. Haes stated Road & Bridge needs a
new tow paver. The Commission agreed for Mr. Haes to purchase the tow paver off of the State Bid.
Mr. Haes asked if the Commission would like him to work with Mr. Erickson concerning getting specs
out for a bid for two dump trucks. The Commission agreed for Mr. Haes to move forward with this
item.
*Surveys – The issue with Clayton Road is still being researched. The concern is where this road actually ends
per the petition that was approved by the County Commission.

Commissioner Williams moved to enter Executive Session per section 610.021 (1) (2) (3) (12). Commissioner
Strahan seconded the motion. The motion passed by roll call vote: Houseman (aye), Strahan (aye), and
Williams (aye).

The Commission did not meet with their staff to review the day’s business and agenda requests today.
Commissioner Williams moved to adjourn. Commissioner Strahan seconded the motion. The motion passed
by vote: Houseman (aye), Strahan (aye), and Williams (aye).
