OFFICIAL MINUTES
May 16, 2011, 17th DAY OF
THE APRIL ADJOURNED TERM
The County Commission met in the Commissioner’s Hearing Room at 8:35 am with Ron
Houseman absent, and Jim Strafuss and Danny Strahan present. The following proceedings were
had and made a matter of record:
Angelia Edwards, Deputy Clerk, swore in Danny Strahan as Temporary Presiding
Commissioner.
PRELIMINARY STUDY MEETING
The County Commission met to review previous meeting minutes and accounts payable.
Commissioner Strafuss gave a brief explanation as to why the commission meeting was so short
today. He stated that it was due to the Commissioners having meetings outside the office.
Specifically, Commissioner Strafuss had a meeting with DNR, and Commissioner Strahan had
road reviews.

CALL COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING TO ORDER
Temporary Presiding Commissioner Strahan called the May 16, 2011 meeting to order in the
Commission Hearing Room.
PRAYER
Helen Soutee led the prayer.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Commissioner Strafuss led the Pledge of Allegiance.
PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES – 5/2, 5/5 & 5/10/2011
Commissioner Strafuss moved to approve the minutes of 5/2, 5/5 and 5/10/2011 with changes as
noted and submitted. Commissioner Strahan seconded the motion. The motion passed by vote:
Houseman (absent), Strahan (aye) and Strafuss (aye).

Commissioner Strahan seconded the motion. The motion passed by vote: Houseman (absent),
Strahan (aye) and Strafuss (aye).
Commissioner Strafuss mentioned that the County was still holding two checks, #324292 &
#324328, for legal review on the next Thursday.
Commissioner Strafuss announced that he would be hosting a follow-up town hall meeting the
following night at 7 PM, in regards to the recent flooding. He stated that the Corp would be
giving a presentation on how the White River operates, and that FEMA & SEMA would be on
hand to answer questions. The County Commission encouraged anyone that had flood water
damage, questions on the process or insurance questions to attend the meeting. They would also
have an organizational flow chart to help answer any questions. It was requested that the County
put two message boards in highly populated areas so people could register their flood damaged
houses, and so that FEMA would have documentation of it.
The Commission announced that FEMA would be present at 1 PM, May 17, 2011 for Public
Assistance Review.
Commissioner Strahan announced to the public that there were a large amount of roads on the
chip and seal list due to the flooding damage. He stated that the Road and Bridge crew had been
doing the largest amount of dig-outs as far as road repair. He said that this was one of the issues
that he would be assessing and looking at.
Commissioner Strafuss moved to adjourn. Commissioner Strahan seconded the motion. The
motion passed by vote: Houseman (absent), Strafuss (aye) and Strahan (aye).
