May 12, 2009, 19th DAY OF
THE APRIL ADJOURN TERM
The County Commission met in the Commissioners Conference Hearing Room at
1:00pm with Chuck Pennel, and Danny Strahan and Jim Strafuss present. The following
proceedings were had and made a matter of record. Also in attendance were the
following members of the Transportation Advisory Board: David Miller, Buddy Roberts,
and Jim Youngblood. Absent from the meeting were Dean Harmon and Jack Baker. Also
present Donna Neeley County Clerk, Frank Preston Road and Bridge Administrator, and
Bob Paulson County Counselor.
TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY BOARD
The commission discussed the roll of the Board. Jim Strafuss defined what he believed
should be the roll of the board to advise the county commission concerning new roads
taking into account the current population and the expected growth by providing a cross
section of input. The Road and Bridge administrator should still receive calls from the
citizens. The Commission does not want the board members to receive trouble calls
regarding road repairs, improvements or project. Calls and projects should be presented
by the Commission or the board members not from the public to the board.
Frank Preston presented Long Range Transportation Plan.
It was determined that the board would meet on Monday Afternoons. The next 2
meetings will be June 1st at 1:00 and June 15th at 1:00 in the commission conference
room.
Chuck Pennel stated that the meeting will be a commission meeting with the Board in
attendance to advise the commission.
Frank Preston will coordinate via e-mail to the various board members to create the
agendas. The focus of the next few meetings will be on safety in the county.
Danny Strahan stated that we have to consider how to finance the projects during these
meetings.
